OUR IMPACT
Building Safer Roads for Cyclists Across Arizona
From statewide initiatives to local partnerships, here’s how we’re making Arizona roads safer for cyclists.
SHARE THE ROAD LICENSE PLATE

In 2018, the Rob Dollar Foundation partnered with Uphill Into the Wind to introduce Arizona’s first “Share the Road” specialty license plate—an initiative designed to directly fund cycling safety across the state.
Proceeds from each plate support our work with Arizona State University and the University of Arizona to develop innovative cycling safety solutions, expand roadway signage, and launch new initiatives that protect cyclists on Arizona roads.

Every plate directly funds safer roads for Arizona cyclists.
ROADWAY SIGNAGE
The Rob Dollar Foundation partners with the City of Phoenix and local cycling communities to improve roadway safety across Arizona. One of our most significant accomplishments is the development and implementation of legally enforceable cycling safety signage that reminds motorists that providing cyclists with at least 3 feet of clearance is not optional—it’s the law.
By identifying high-risk cycling areas and advocating for MUTCD-compliant signage, we are helping cities create safer, more predictable roadways for cyclists and drivers alike—reducing accidents and protecting riders across Arizona communities.

3 feet of clearance isn’t optional—it saves lives.

FREE BIKE SAFETY COURSES

The Rob Dollar Foundation has hosted free bike safety courses for riders of all ages across Arizona, equipping communities with the knowledge and tools needed to ride safely and confidently. These programs have been offered at the annual Rob Dollar Memorial Ride and at schools in partnership with local cycling safety experts.
Each course has provided essential safety gear—including helmets and lights—to increase accessibility and help prevent accidents before they happen.

Education is one of the most effective ways to prevent cycling-related accidents.
As we expand our impact, we are actively working to bring these programs back to more communities across Arizona.

Our impact extends beyond programs—into ongoing community partnerships and advocacy across Arizona.
